The coffee roasting is going good and really I've been selling quite a bit. A little tribute to how good a job that roaster can do is that when I had a friend from Ethiopia taste my Ethiopian coffee {he owns about a half acre of Mich Harrar in Ethiopia and currently runs an African cafe here in London, Ontario, were he roasts a variety of East African coffee every morning with an electric TOPER to serve fresh to customers} he told me that my coffee was done perfect. He asked me what type of a roaster I was using and when I told him about my drum setup he became pretty excited about the concept. -Jason
Every once in a while, the blind hog finds an acorn. Such was the case when Ron Kyle offered one of his RK Drums as a "Tradition" gift on the Sweet Maria's Homeroast mailing list. The Traditions are one-string-attached gifts where the giver offers some item(s) free including free delivery. Usually there is random choice involved in selection of the recipient. The only "string" is that the recipient is obligated to offer a Tradition of his own.
In Ron Kyle's tradition, he offered one of his custom-made RK Drums for coffee roasting. I WON! All I had to do was add my own gas grill and rotisserie. Ron sold these drums for $210 through his website.
First roast with my RK Drum was 16oz of Rwanda Masaka "Seven Lakes" from Sweet Maria's. I really like this coffee and had
I've had my RK Drum for less than a month and just love it! Just
minutes ago I also ordered the 50rpm drive motor. Silly thing just
happened to me today. I was looking at my stash and trying to come up
with a blend. I had completely forgotten that I have other methods of
roasting available to me (popper..iRoast..hg/db..sc/to) and was becoming
frustrated because I was thinking in terms of roasting pounds instead of
ounces to make the trial blend. Duhhhhhh! I love my RK Drum. I love
my RK Drum. I love my RK Drum.
Have I mentioned..... I LOVE my RK Drum.

Hi Ron
I couldn't be more pleased with my drum. I finally got it set up last
weekend and have only run 5 roasts through it, but I'm already quite
pleased. You have a great product. Thought I'd send you a picture. you're
welcome to put it on your website. I went with the brinkmann 45k btu grill
from walmart. Great grill. It will hold a temp steady with very little
adjustment. I haven't needed to roast in cold temperatures yet, but I'm
sure it has the power. I keep it at 500 with the three burners at med-low
in ~50 degree ambient temps

Got the new clip, and pop riveted it on. Must have taken me all of 2 minutes!
Just completed roasting 20 pounds of various beans, and I LOVE the new clip!!!!
No more fiddling around with the pin, just pop it out, flip the clip, dump the beans, and on to the next batch. As you mentioned in your review, a bit less noise, and much faster turnaround times between roasts.
Still regret not going with the 6 pound drum.
Best Wishes,
